Special moment, special connection! Weitz group continues with active research and remote events.
September 18, 2020
During the lab shutdown (April – June 2020), seven weekly subgroup meetings were held to keep group members connected via zoom. Lots of interesting discussion happened inside these small communities.
- Group 1, Porous Media (leader – Thomas):
- Group 2, Colloids (leader – Zsolt):
- Group 3, Biophysics (leader – Jing):
- Group 4A, Microfluidic Materials (leader – Weixia):
- Group 4B, Microfluidic Materials (leader – Larissa):
- Group 5A Microfluidic Biology (leader – John):
- Group 5B, Microfluidic Biology (leader – Perry):
After successfully launching the online subgroups, we restarted full Group Meetings using Zoom (held by Dave & Hong) in mid-May. They continue to be great opportunities for everyone in the group to connect at the same time, and allow us to learn a lot from the shared scientific talks and different soundbites.
Now, the Weitz lab has been safely reopened for more than 3 months, but the remote brainstorming continues. The weekly subgroup meetings have shifted: Group 4A and 4B have merged into a single unit, and the same has been done with Group 5A and 5B. Group 3 has also changed frequency, meeting every two weeks. What’s more, we hold an informal online networking event at Friday lunch time every two weeks, to increase the communication inside the group.
Here are some photos from the latest Group Meeting where you can see the happy faces of the Weitz Lab!
